The statute requiring persons operating motor vehicles to be licensed was recently amended to require the Division of Motor Vehicles to include a question on the licensing exam about organ donation. Specifically, the applicant must be asked if he or she is aware of the provisions of the Uniform Anatomical Gift Act and the procedure for donating organs and tissue. Although driver licenses have long contained a provision on the reverse side indicating the license holder wishes to donate organs, the legislature investigated and determined that a significant number of drivers were unaware of this fact.
